Can you imagine living a life without food?
Unfortunately, that’s what untold thousands of kids and adults are faced with due to varying forms of an Immune System disorder called Eosinophilic Disease. So what is this disease? The simple explanation is that we all have white blood cells called Eosinophils which attack parasites in the body. That’s a good thing. However, in those who are afflicted with this disease, the Eosinophils attack food as if it’s a parasite. If you can imagine the GI tract, stomach and esophagus being in a war zone every time you eat, you’ll have an idea of what it can do to the body. The collateral damage to these body parts can be severe and lead to significant issues. Those issues can include daily vomiting, horrible diarrhea and extreme pain. The impact frequently includes feeding tubes, the removal of all food from the diet and the ability to only eat a few foods for the rest of their lives.
Can you imagine a life without food? Check out this video developed by the American Partnership for Eosinophil Disorder to further understand what those diagnosed with any of the Eosinophilic Diseases are faced with. How will we get the word out? We will use a 4-pronged approach. 1. We will utilize social networking websites like Facebook, MySpace, www.MTDN.com, www.igive.com, LinkedIn and Plaxo to raise awareness, funds, connections and ideas. Through the building of profiles on each site, we will be able to reach out to an ever larger group of people. 2. We will use my company, FIVE STAR Speakers & Trainers, to educate and raise funds through website presence. Additionally, a percent of our future sales will be donated to the foundation. 3. I will pursue my personal dbase which includes thousands of the top professional speakers, trainers, athletes, celebrities and entertainers around the world. 4. We will build a prominent Board of Advisors, who will assist us in further developing the vision, creating fundraising opportunities and to show wise stewardship of the funds we generate. What organizations will we support? The following organizations will be the primary initial recipients of a majority of the funds raised: · American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders · The Gastrointestinal Eosinophil Diseases Program at Denver Children’s Hospital · The Cincinnati Center for Eosinophilic Disorders at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital · The Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders Clinic at the Rady’s Children’s Hospital of San Diego
